For the more experienced winter walker and those who like to challenge themselves we offer winter mountaineering journeys throughout the national park. 

Ridges, easy gullies and scrambles offer a dramatic and invigorating experience in the winter landscape.  This guided day would offer the closest experience to true mountaineering in the Lake District. 

Examples include:

  • The Helvellyn edges

  • Hopegill Head & Grasmoor 

  • Brown Cove Crags

  • Sharp Edge

  • Scafell Pike

Equipment

You will need to wear suitable clothing for winter mountaineering, including a full set of waterproofs, warm layers, hat & gloves, ski goggles and winter walking boots. These boots should be rigid and rated to B1/B2 standard (we can advise during the booking stage).

We can provide crampons, ice axe, helmets and other technical equipment. Please make use of our winter kit lists.
