The mountain leadership workshops are designed for those looking to gain, develop and refine their skills towards the Mountain Leader award.
All of our workshops are affiliated with the MTA. The Mountain Training Association is a professional organisation for the community of Mountain Training award holders and trainees. The association has many benefits and you can join here: https://www.mountain-training.org/help/our-association/
For MTA members these courses are offered at a discounted rate. This can be accessed on the booking system. For MTA members, each course will offer CPD points (continued professional development) that will be displayed on your account.
These points keep your award relevant and your association membership up to date.
The courses are also open to none MTA members; these workshops are for anybody looking to prepare for assessment, get up to speed with ML standards and the ML syllabus or simply for those that wish to avoid any skill fade once qualified.
ML Refresher
2 DAY WORKSHOP
Full Syllabus, No Expedition
This two-day, non-residential Mountain Leader Refresher is designed for those who’ve completed ML Training and want to revisit the full syllabus—without a wild camp.
Across two separate days, we’ll cover key areas including navigation, leadership, steep ground, environmental knowledge, and emergency procedures. Ideal for candidates consolidating experience or preparing for assessment, with focused coaching and clear, practical feedback.

ML Refresher
2 DAY assessment prep
WITH WILD CAMP & NIGHT NAV
This two-day workshop takes place in the mountains and includes an overnight expedition. With a clear focus on assessment preparedness, we’ll cover navigation, leadership, and the key competencies required to meet the Mountain Leader standard.
Whether you're looking to check in ahead of your assessment or add valuable experience during your consolidation period, this course offers practical, targeted support to help you progress with confidence.

ML REFRESHER
Day into night navigation
A practical evening session simulating poor visibility, focused on Mountain Leader assessment standards. Practise key navigation techniques, build confidence, and sharpen your decision-making with expert input from ML course directors.

STEEP GROUND & rope work skills
A practical one-day workshop focusing on steep ground management and emergency ropework in line with the Mountain Leader syllabus.
Develop confidence with essential knots, anchor selection, and safe use of the confidence rope - ideal preparation for assessment or consolidation after training.
