OVERVIEW

If you are looking to progress into multi pitch venues then this course is designed to teach you all the appropriate skills needed - looking at rope organisation, stance management and safe descent this is an all inclusive course with lots of climbing.

 

Course Outline

 

Day 1:

You will be guided on a multi pitch climb to begin with, and here we will demonstrate the following:

  • Runner placement and management Rope work (half vs single ropes)

  • Belay stances and management

  • Reducing twists at belays

  • Protecting a second (traverse)

  • Descent and personal abseiling ​

 

Day 2:

  • Complete a multi pitch climb

  • Climb routes 'in series' or independently

  • Build your own belays

  • Belay a second

  • Manage your own stances

  • Gain independence

  • Discuss problem solving where appropriate

Course Ratios

1:2 Ratio - 2 people per 1 instructor

Safety is paramount so no more than 2 people per 1 instructor in technical terrain.

 

A party larger than 2 will require multiple instructors - we can supply instructors adhering to our ratios - please enquire.  

Pre-Requisites 

Wear and fit a harness correctly

Tie a rethreaded figure of eight knot

Preferably, you have some climbing experience and are looking to improve your lead climbing, stance organisation and overall rope work

Equipment

All technical equipment is provided. 

We will share kit lists with you during the booking stage

Harness & Helmet provided but

ideally you will have your own

You will need to wear suitable outdoor clothing and have your own rock shoes. 

Venue

Our venues are carefully selected and tailored to get the most out of the programme. 

We can select venues close to your accommodation where possible.

We regularly use the Langdale & Borrowdale valleys.
