This is a combined rock and water activity and involves canyoning in a mountain river.  Church Beck involves descending the gorge; abseiling and jumping over cascades and sliding into amazing plunge pools.

OUTLINE

This is a half day canyoning adventure based in Coniston.   

We will be using the picturesque Church Beck, in the Coppermine valley; a mountain ghyll that cascades from the Old Man of Coniston. 

WHAT'S INCLUDED

We will provide you with the following for a comfortable and enjoyable day:

High quality full length 3mm wetsuit 

Extra 2mm wetsuit jacket (cold weather)

Buoyancy Aid

Spray cagoule 

Neoprene socks (we are one of the few companies offering wetsuits socks, for maximum comfort)

Helmet (water helmet designed for aquatic environments) 

Harness 

Technical canyoning equipment 

Hardware & ropes

Group kit & emergency equipment

WHAT TO EXPECT

We will give a full and comprehensive safety briefing & demonstrations.

The instructor will take you through the gorge and teach you safe and appropriate canyoning techniques, 

 

This is a fully aquatic journey as we descend the gorge. 

If you are looking for an adrenaline filled adventure then this is for you.  This trip offers some technical jumps, adventurous slides on natural rock features and plenty of crystal clear plunge pools for swimming, scrambling and playing. 

We will manage the descent via a series of roped lowers, abseils, jumps and slides.

Ratios

1:8 Ratio

Meeting at 9:00am and running until 12:00pm roughly.

This is a half day adventure

Afternoon slots meet for 12:30pm when available

 

In busy periods (summer) we will run open days and fill the spaces where possible

3 or more bookings for sessions to run

 

Pre-Requisites 

10+ years

No experience necessary

The ghyll has lots of fun challenges.  The gorge will narrow towards the end for the bigger challenges so you will have to commit to a series of jumps to exit the canyon.

This is an exciting trip, it is an aquatic ghyll so the will to get wet is necessary

Equipment

We will share kit lists with you during the booking stage

We provide wetsuits, spray cags, neoprene socks, helmets and buoyancy aids

You will need to bring sturdy footwear, such as walking boots or supportive trainers.

You will need change of clothes and a towel for afterwards

Venue

This session is based in Coniston (we will share our meeting location with you)

We will meet you on location with everything you need for your session

The season is April - October, with extremities of the season having colder water temperatures.

You will be on session for around 3 hours depending on group sizes
