Build anchors that are sound, simple and strong.
£150 per person
Build Better Belays is a practical workshop in anchor judgement and stance management. We look at the principles that make a belay appropriate: dependable placements, anticipated load, redundancy, rope direction and the needs of the team. You will build, compare and refine multiple anchors for different rock situations.
Based in Langdale / Borrowdale. We choose the exact venue around conditions and the skills being practised.
Small-group workshop. (Max 4)
You should have basic experience using trad equipment and be able to tie in and belay. Leading experience is helpful but not essential.
Weatherproof clothing, warm layers, food, drinks and personal medication. Footwear for the approach. Bring any personal climbing equipment you already own.
Please bring your own climbing shoes, as these are not provided. A harness and helmet can be supplied. If you have your own, please bring them with you.
The exact plan may adapt to weather, venue conditions and the group's experience. The stages below describe the intended focus.
£150 per person. Dates for this workshop are not confirmed yet. Register your interest and we will let you know when they are.
Ask about arranging Build Better Belays privately. Tell us your experience, priorities, group size and preferred dates so we can confirm a suitable format and quote.
