Ghyll scrambling DAYS

stickle Ghyll - guided trip

Walk, scramble and climb your way up the Ghyll.  Hopping over rocks, climbing waterfalls and small cascades and plunging in the clear pools of Langdale. 

Great for families and kids 

Up to 3 hours

This is a half day gorge walking experience, based in Langdale 

This is close to Windermere and Ambleside and is very accessible 

We will provide you with the following for a comfortable and enjoyable day:

  • High quality full length 3mm wetsuit 

  • Extra 2mm wetsuit jacket (cold weather)

  • Spray cagoule 

  • Neoprene socks (we are one of the few companies offering wetsuits socks, for maximum comfort)

  • Helmet (water helmet designed for aquatic environments) 

  • Harness 

  • Technical equipment 

  • Hardware & ropes

  • Group kit & emergency equipment


We will give a full and comprehensive safety briefing & demonstrations. 

The instructor will take you through the gorge and teach you safe and appropriate canyoning techniques,. 


This is an aquatic journey as we ascend the gorge. 

We head upstream, tackling all obstacles and challenges en route

This includes; rock hopping, scrambling, climbing up waterfalls and cascades, jumping in plunge pools and walking up the river through the white water 

This is a great adventure for families and kids and is a great introductory canyon for all! 


1:8 Ratio

Up to 8 people on this session

Meeting at 9:00am and running until 12:00pm roughly

This is a half day adventure


We will look to put groups together during busy times

3 or more bookings for sessions to run



8+ years

No experience necessary

The gorge has lots of fun challenges.  For younger children we will look to keep your session private.

This is an exciting trip, it is an aquatic ghyll so the will to get wet is necessary 


We will share kit lists with you during the booking stage

We provide wetsuits, spray cags, neoprene socks, helmets and harnesses

You will need to bring sturdy footwear, such as walking boots or supportive trainers.

You will need a change of clothes and a towel for afterwards


This session is based in Langdale  (we will share our meeting locations with you)

We will meet you on location with everything you need for your session

The season is April to October, with extremities of the season having colder water temperatures.
