Scrambling in Coniston - scrambling development courses

 

 

Course Outline

This course is aimed at people with some scrambling experience and want to progress their understanding in order to stay safe on steeper ground and grade 1/2 terrain. 

 

This course will cover aspects such as planning, guidebook interpretation, decision making, uses of technical equipment and an introduction to ropework. 

 

Movement skills and route finding will be key components of this course. Practical ropework workshops will cover belaying and solid stances, the use of direct and indirect belays and mountain leader style ropework will be looked at - this will be covered in ascent and descent to provide an all round understanding of skills, their implementation and ultimately their limitations. 

Equipment

Any technical gear such as ropes, harnesses and helmets will be provided.

We would expect you to wear mountain clothing suitable for the conditions on the day. 

Please adhere to the hill walking/scrambling kit lists. 

Any kit necessary will be discussed during the booking stage.
