INTRO TO NAVIGATION
For beginner hill walkers or novices looking to gain confidence in map reading.
Max Ratio 1:6
£70pp - up to 6 spaces
If the day runs on a 1:1 ratio - it will run as a half day
This course will take a progressive approach to navigation; from choosing a map, reading the map, understanding scales and symbols and basic contours.
We will teach you how to orientate the map, measure distances and navigate via linear features such as paths, walls and streams to develop handrailing techniques. This course will teach the fundamentals of map reading and lay the groundwork for those wishing to progress onto the next course and develop their mountain navigation.
We would expect you to wear hill and mountain clothing suitable for the conditions on the day. Please read the kit lists for hill walking.
We will provide maps of the area we will be covering but we advise you to buy and bring along your own Silva Expedition 4 compass to practice with and use going forward.
For a private course, please book our bespoke navigation day.
