This canyon is around 15 minutes from Keswick, and 30 minutes from Ambleside.
We will be using Fisher Ghyll; a mountain ghyll that cascades above Thirlmere.
The walk in to the start point is around 45 minutes uphill, sometimes quite steep. The terrain is a mixture of grass, rock and bog.
For the trip, LDM will provide you with the following for a comfortable and enjoyable day:
High quality full length 3mm wetsuit
Extra 2mm wetsuit jacket (cold weather)
Neoprene socks (we are one of the few companies offering wetsuits socks, for maximum comfort)
Helmet (water helmet designed for aquatic environments)
Technical canyoning equipment
Hardware & ropes
Group kit & emergency equipment
We will give a full and comprehensive safety briefing & demonstrations.
The instructor will take you through the gorge and teach you safe and appropriate canyoning techniques,
Our instructors have been trained in specific canyoning techniques to take you safely through this gorge.
There will be a chance to look at the systems we use and practice before getting on the ropes.
This is a fully aquatic journey as we descend the gorge.
If you are looking for an adrenaline filled adventure then this is for you. This trip offers some amazing abseils and zip lines down cascades and flowing waterfalls. There are some slides, some scrambling and the odd jump if safe to do so.
This is an authentic canyoning experience, meaning abseiling is the main event.
Some short sections of this canyon are narrow and inescapable, but this all adds to the drama of the trip.
Come and give it a go, see what canyoning is all about.
