canyoning
Canyoning is a mountaineering activity. It is a sport and recreational activity that involves descending a water course such as a mountain river, stream or ghyll.
The method of descent is via a series of abseils/rappels, zip lines, slides, jumps, swims and scrambles.
The canyons we visit are aquatic, so expect to get wet, encounter white water and abseil down waterfalls/cascades. This is an exciting and adreneline fuelled adventure!
Our canyoneers are ICOPro trained, which means we use recognised techniques that are specific to canyoning - these techniques are best practice for the environment we intend to visit and are used worldwide by professionals.
ICOPro stands for International Canyoning Organisation for Professionals.

The Esk has some big water and some big jumps. A proper mountain ghyll offering lots of challenge

Longsleddale Canyon
Difficulty: 4/5
Descend via abseils and jumps. The trip can be tailored dependent on ability levels but this is an adventurous trip and offers some amazing positions in a steep sided gorge.
